Gold Rock Beach

Beach Rules

Dogs, drinks, fires and drones at this beach, answered for right now.

DogsYes, on a leash

A dog is allowed if it is on a leash no longer than two metres and with someone able to control it at all times, and it must stay on the beach and other designated areas rather than roam the park. The Trust can restrict dogs at any time by posting a sign.

Fires & grillsDepends, by area

Cooking over charcoal or wood is allowed only where the Trust has designated an area with a posted sign, and you must follow the guidelines posted there. There is no general right to light a fire on the sand.

Tents & shadeAllowed

A beach umbrella, a tarpaulin and a tent in active use are expressly not structures under the bylaws, so day shade is allowed. Camping overnight is separate and needs the Trust's authorisation.

DronesDepends, with a permit

You may not take off from the park, or fly below 1,000 feet over it, without written authorisation from a Trust warden or officer.

FishingNot allowed

All fishing is prohibited inside Lucayan National Park unless the Bahamas National Trust authorises it in writing. The ban covers the foreshore and the sea, year round, with no open season.

Amplified musicAllowed

Music and speakers are allowed only at a volume that is not a nuisance to other visitors or to wildlife. The warden on duty decides what counts as a nuisance and that decision is final.
