No person may have in their possession any container of alcoholic beverage on York's public beaches. Playing drinking games such as beer pong, beer die and flip cup is also prohibited.
Fires are not permitted on York's beaches without a special event permit approved by the Selectboard, and State law also requires an open burning permit from the Fire Chief. Grills may not be used without prior approval as part of a special event permit. At Short Sands, the Ellis Short Sands Park ordinance also applies, and where the two conflict the more restrictive provision governs.
Launching and landing drones (unmanned aircraft systems) on the beach is not allowed unless authorized by the Parks and Recreation Director or their designee.
