Beach Rules

Dogs, drinks, fires and drones at this beach, answered for right now.

DogsYes, on a leash

Animals are not allowed on New Hampshire state park coastal beaches during the operating season. After the seasonal closing, animals are allowed at Wallis Sands state beach only from October 1 through April 30, on a leash no longer than 6 feet, and owners must clean up after them. Service animals are the ADA exception to the prohibition.

Allowed until May 1
AlcoholNot allowed

Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted at Wallis Sands state park unless permission has been granted by special use permit or group reservation.

Fires & grillsNot allowed

No person shall have fires or portable grills on any state park beach, except in places the department provides or designates for that purpose.

DronesDepends, with a permit

Launching and landing an unmanned aircraft (drone) is prohibited on state park land unless approved by the department through a special use permit or contract. The rule covers launching and landing only.

GlassNot allowed

No person shall have glass of any kind on any beach in a New Hampshire state park.

FishingDepends, by area

Fishing is prohibited at seacoast state beaches when lifeguards are on duty, except in designated areas with permission from authorized department personnel, based on the number of visitors on the beach. Wallis Sands is not among the parks the rule exempts by name. The rule sets no lifeguard dates, so check the posted lifeguard schedule. Anglers are also exempt from the overnight beach closure.

Amplified musicNot allowed

Park guests shall not broadcast audio or conduct activities that disturb other visitors' quiet enjoyment. Listen to music with headphones, earbuds or similar devices.

Metal detectingAllowed

Metal detectors are permitted along the shoreline of beaches unless otherwise posted. Holes may not be dug deeper than 12 inches and must be filled in, and finds worth more than $50 must be turned in as lost and found.
