Dog Beach, the sand at the north end of Ocean Beach, is open to dogs 24 hours a day, off leash, all year. On the rest of Ocean Beach the citywide rule applies: no dogs 9am to 4pm from November 1 through March 31 or 9am to 6pm from April 1 through October 31, leashed at all other hours. Service animals are exempt.
Alcohol is banned on the beach, cliffs, walkways, park areas and adjacent parking lots year round.
Ocean Beach has city fire pits, first come first served, and a fire must be inside one. Open fires on the sand are banned and no fire is allowed between midnight and 5am. Only wood, charcoal or paper may be burned, and fuel may not rise more than 12 inches above the rim.
Glass containers are banned on the beach, cliffs, walkways, park areas and adjacent parking lots.
Smoking is banned on the beach, cliffs, walkways, park areas and adjacent parking lots.
Disturbing noise is banned on the beach, and any voice or music amplification needs a city permit.
