Pets are allowed on a leash in the picnic area and on the hiking trails north of the train tracks. Pets are not permitted in the campground, on the beach or on the boardwalk south of the train tracks from May 1 to October 1. The park's picnic shelter listing also says pets are prohibited in the picnic shelter, campground and on the beach south of the railroad tracks, without giving dates.
Fishing is allowed on the jetty, to the right of the beach, year-round. In the off-season, September 15 to Memorial Day, the entire beach and jetty are open to fishing. A permit issued by the park is required for night fishing and must be issued the same day.
