Dogs are allowed on the beach on a leash, with waste cleaned up by the owner. The one carve-out is the Little Estero Critical Wildlife Area at the south end of the island, where no pets are allowed at all.
Open containers of alcohol are illegal on the public beach.
Open fires on the sand are banned outright. A Town Hall permit for a small cooking fire can be obtained only from November 1 through April 30, never during sea turtle nesting season, and never in the Little Estero Critical Wildlife Area.
The Town Council banned smoking and vaping on all town and county-owned public beaches and parks within town limits in May 2026.
