Beach Rules

Dogs and other pets are banned from the beach and its parking areas at all times, aside from ADA-recognized service dogs; emotional support animals do not qualify.

Drinking or possessing an open or unsealed alcoholic beverage container on the public beach is banned at all times.

Open fires are banned everywhere on the beach except at fire pits the city itself built for that purpose.

Tents and canopies are banned on the beach except in one designated area north of the pier behind Lifeguard Tower 5, capped at 10 by 10 feet. Elsewhere, only a traditional umbrella up to 10 feet across is allowed.

Drone use is banned at the beach and all city parks because the whole city sits within five miles of Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.

Smoking any tobacco product, other than unfiltered cigars, or vaping is banned on the city's beach.

General beach and surf fishing is banned 9am to 6pm, so it is allowed only overnight. Fishing within 100 yards of the fishing pier is separately banned at all times.

A radio, phone or other audio device producing amplified sound plainly audible more than 30 feet away is banned anywhere on the beach.
