Dogs are prohibited on Carlsbad State Beach. The one exception is the strip beside Carlsbad Boulevard east of the bluff line fence between Cherry Street and Tamarack Avenue, which is not the sand.
Drinking alcohol is prohibited year round, except in limited designated areas under a special event permit.
All fires are prohibited and there are no fire rings, including wood, charcoal briquettes, fire logs and fire starters. A self standing propane or butane burner is allowed on the sand if it sits at least 6 inches clear of the ground.
Flying, launching or landing a drone is prohibited. Non-commercial flight is possible only with the park unit's special use permit and the applicable FAA registration.
Glass containers are prohibited on the beach year round.
