Our conditions page converts today's hourly UV forecast at Main Beach into minutes to burn using the standard erythemal dose model, so instead of "UV 9" you get "unprotected fair skin burns in about 18 minutes", along with the strongest stretch of the day and when to reapply. Open sand and water reflect UV back at you, so the estimate includes a beach uplift.
Check Today's Burn TimeIt depends on when. From May 15 through September 15 dogs are not permitted on Village beaches between 9am and 6pm. At every other hour in that season they must be on a leash within 300 feet of any road end. Note that the Town of East Hampton publishes a wider season for the same rule, the second Sunday in May through September 30, so treat mid-May and late September as restricted. See All Beach RulesIt depends on when. Beach fires are allowed except between 9am and 6pm daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. A fire must sit in a metal container, burn firewood only, be no more than two feet in any dimension including the flame, stay 50 feet from beach grass, vegetation, tents and fences, 100 feet from any building and 200 feet from a posted bird nesting colony, be watched constantly and be put out with water rather than buried.
