The Na Pali sea kayak season is strictly May through September — swells close the route the rest of the year.

Morning is essential: Hanalei Bay swells and winds pick up by 11 AM; launch before 8 AM for the calmest water.

Ke'e Beach has a reef snorkel lagoon — it's a free alternative to a guided tour and 15 minutes from town.

North-shore kayak and boat tours operate only in summer; in winter, use Port Allen (south) for Na Pali by boat.
