Point Dume, just south of Zuma, is one of the best land-based whale watching spots in California. Boat charters depart from Malibu and Marina del Rey for gray whales December to April and blue whales in summer.

There is no formal marina at Zuma -- charters depart from Malibu Pier or Marina del Rey, both under 20 minutes.

Point Dume is the best free whale watching point on the California coast -- the bluff above the cove faces south toward the migration corridor.

Kayak and SUP rentals available at the north end of the lot and at nearby Malibu Pier.

Summer fog usually burns off at Zuma by late morning -- plan water activities from 10 AM on.
